Well, I believe you guys have already seen the G5 from the video I took last week. The last report is all about the outlook, now let’s talk about the internals.

There are brand new features with this G5. Gen 2 magazine, New Bolt Stop System and its nozzle.
Let’s start with the bolt stop:

What’s so special about this bolt stop you may ask, let’s have a look at the yellow part. When the weapon is running, the magnet will stick with the bolt catch, when the magazine is empty, the leaver from the magazine will raise and engage the bolt catch. When the charging handle is pulled, it will release the bolt catch and it will attach onto the magnet again. This is more reliable than using a spring to raise the bolt catch.

About the magazine, it can be used on the G5 and the old GHK PDW. Let’s have a look at the diagram.

Because if the mold is not precise enough, the gas will not be able to flow smoothly like fig.2. Yes, it will provide a much sturdy stream of gas with this function. Unlike the old design which will cause the gas pressure to drop when fire continuously. (You only need to charge this new magazine for 4 seconds and it will hold enough gas to finish all the rounds)

Now let’s talk about the plunger within the nozzle. Usually it comes in dart shape and made with metal. I can tell you this one is not metal and it’s a sphere. Strange? Indeed it is a bit strange. However, it works so well that it improves the air seal and the gasification rate.
